This year’s Antipodean Palette ‘Call for Entries’ received an overwhelming response making it a difficult task for our panel to decide. Thank you to all the artists for their time and interest in submitting their work.
The ‘Antipodean Palette’ aims to support Visual Arts in the community by showcasing a variety of works by practicing Greek Australian artists. This year’s artists will be-Angy Labiris, Agi Argyropoulos, Anne Warren, the WA artist group Masonik, Christos Avramoudas, Con Emmanuelle, Effie Mandalos, Frixos Ioannides, James Raftopoulos, Jenny Dumont, Mary Raphael, Sofronis Michaelidis, Soula Mantalvanos, Thalia Andrews and Tony Pierrakos.
They will exhibit a variety of work such as painting, illustration, mixed media and 3D installations, collage, copper-etch and risograph prints, photography and silvercraft.
The exhibition will be held at Steps Gallery, 62 Lygon St Carlton from August 13 until August 23, 10am to 4 pm daily. An opening celebration will commence at 6.30pm Thursday 13th August with special guests, The Hon. Martin Foley MP, Minister for Creative Industries and the Greek Consul General, Mrs Christina Simantiraki. The10 day event will also include an afternoon of bi-lingual poetry readings on Sunday 16th August at
4.00pm.
